When I say most people can be trusted, I’m coming from a view of our local community in Wellington County. Unfortunately, I believe that there are those individuals outside of our sheltered neighborhoods, that make a lifestyle of less trustworthy ways.
Well, I think there’s a difference between trustworthy and kind. To me if someone’s trustworthy, I could give them $100 and ask them to hold onto it for me. I don’t run into that many of those people in a regular day, but I certainly run into some wonderful hard-working people that are kind throughout my days.
Timely question, especially during an election cycle. But politics aside, given the number of scam phone calls, and phishing emails, I get everyday, I trust no one I haven't met in person, and have "sized them up". That includes door knockers trying to sell you anything. (including Nexgen, who offer you nothing anyway) I have call display, and Rogers let's you know if they think it's a scam call.
I am getting a bit political here, but when our federal politicians have been racking up the debt the way they are and lining their own pockets they do not need a phone. And if we vote to keep the Liberals in power it will get worse. Most ordinary people are good. When we get serious about keeping the vermin in jail I stead of catch & release there might be more resources to fight fraud.
The hospital was trying to contact me a few days ago and Rogers was marking it as suspected spam. I didn't get to say goodbye to a dying friend because of that. That aside, don't blindly trust someone just because you've met them in person.
I used to give trust freely but within the last year I’ve really learned that most people will put their own best interests ahead of all else and I no longer trust like I used to. It’s been a difficult paradigm shift for me, I wish I could still see the world the way I used to.
From what I read in comments, trust appears to be the degree of risk you are willing to accept without personal injury when knowing/associating with someone. Before my dad's passing, his 'words of wisdom' was the famous acronym "DTA" - don't trust anyone! Limit your risk and you won't get hurt.

When I say most people can be trusted I'm not meaning politicians, I'm meaning a normal hard working, god fearing person.

“God fearing” makes no difference.

Trust but verify...actions speak louder than words.

I hope iam not wrong but most people I met appear to be trustworthy but always use common sense.

I've been burned far too many times to trust anyone. I am always cautious with my actions and wording. TRUST is earned.

With all of the scams going around these days it pays to be careful. I don't even trust my best friend with my fishing spots.

Where was that spot again I promise I won’t tell a soul…wink wink.

When I caught that big lake trout I marked a spot so I could find it again. I put an x on the back of the boat.

Back in the day you could basically trust the greater majority of people you knew. Those days are gone!
