Clucking Neighbour!

It will be interesting to see how this "Cold Turkey" approach drives up initial anxiety in kids. I'm 100% for eliminating cell phones. I'm certain it will benefit attention span, but I think doing this in such a hard-stop way will be tough. Perhaps a more gradual or graduated approach from elementary through the secondary years would be better. Good luck. I applaud the move and look forward to watching how it rolls out.

Ottawa's auditor general has found that millions of dollars in revenue generated by red light cameras — money intended for road safety initiatives — has instead been diverted into the city's general operating budget and to police.
It's a new revenue stream with little to do with safety.

Right On...reflecting on the Provincial Debate, right?

It's amazing how Guelph is surrounded by a sea of Conservatives in Wellington—Halton Hills North. Michael Chong seems like a given every election cycle.
The National Signal Poll (a composite of hundreds of polls) shows the popular vote at 43.2% Liberal and 39.1% PC. Projected Seats are 180 Liberal and 131 PC. A majority is 172 seats.

Jay Walk—yes, but it is a cash cow because it generates cash, as the metaphor goes, and the article supports this.
People should slow down, but they don't for various reasons, most of which are of little potential harm or risk to anyone. The money should be reinvested in traffic-calming between the two roundabouts.
There should be more grace in ticketing speed. Nail the big speeders, not the 10-over people who are just driving through for the first time or forgot to check their speed.

Who is old enough to remember when all we had to watch in Northern Ontario was CBC English and CBC French with Thierry La Fronde...LOL...life was much simpler then.

"How should Wellington County reinvest the unexpected revenue from automated speed enforcement (ASE)?"
This is not unexpected revenue! It didn't fall from the sky. The County is Gaslighting. It is a deliberate, planned, new, and enticing revenue stream enabled by the Global Traffic Group, which sold the program to the County. It's an irresistible and lucrative business proposition! IMO, it's exploitative and an overreach. Yes, a "Cash Grab."
What bothers me the most is the number of drivers punished for largely normalised driving speed behaviours conditioned over the years, such as moving with the traffic flow or going marginally over the speed limit, like 1-5 km (even 10 km), which are innocuous speeds. Yes, fine the real speeders, but not friends and family who mistakenly miss seeing a sign or checking their speed. They are caught like a fish in a barrel.
Let's wait for the report and see how they spin it.
