As inflation continues to drive up the cost of groceries, SkipTheDishes and its rapid grocery and convenience delivery service, Skip Express Lane, have taken action to help Canadians combat rising food prices.

Together, they announced the launch of Canada's first-ever Inflation Cookbook - an innovative digital resource designed to help people source affordable, nutritious food and make the most of their grocery budgets.

The Cookbook is a testament to SkipTheDishes' ongoing commitment to fighting food insecurity in the communities it serves.

splashHow does it work?

The Inflation Cookbook is a cutting-edge digital resource that harnesses the power of data and technology to track the top ten food items experiencing price fluctuations each week.

With regionally-specific insights that are unbiased towards any particular brand, the Cookbook provides Canadians from all provinces with the chance to discover better-priced groceries.

Using AI, as well as input from a leading nutritionist and chef, the Cookbook carefully curates seven healthy recipes that consumers can prepare at home using the most affordable items of the week. This innovative approach makes healthy and cost-effective meal planning an accessible and convenient option for everyone.

And, in conjunction with the release of the Inflation Cookbook, Skip is also enhancing its longstanding alliance with Food Banks Canada to offer further aid to those struggling with the repercussions of rising costs.

Collaboration with Food Banks Canada

All surplus food from its 23 Skip Express Lane fulfillment centres will be contributed to local food banks nationwide. To mark the launch of this expanded collaboration, SkipTheDishes will donate $100,000 to Food Banks Canada, supporting their common goal of ensuring that all Canadians have access to wholesome food. This donation will provide 200,000 meals to Canadians in need, in addition to the regular food donations that local food banks receive year-round from Skip Express Lane locations.

"High inflation and the cost-of-living crisis we are all facing makes it difficult for those who rely on food banks but also for food banks forced to continue to keep up with the ever-increasing demand," shared Kirstin Beardsley, CEO, Food Banks Canada.

"At this critical time, we're incredibly grateful for our partnership with SkipTheDishes, which will now help more families access the fresh food they need, whether it be through the Inflation Cookbook or the ongoing donations to food banks across Canada from Skip Express Lane."

The Inflation Cookbook is now available via a mobile-friendly web browser, offering Canadians a selection of 400 nutritious and cost-effective recipes. The cookbook emphasizes the use of produce, whole grains, dairy items, and select proteins.

Users can personalize their experience by tailoring recipe suggestions to fit their household size and grocery budget. Additionally, the cookbook offers ingredient substitutions to accommodate dietary restrictions and maximize savings.
