Take the 427 north out of Toronto, and you’ll hit Nashville in under an hour. Nashville, Ontario, that is— a tiny village that has helped to inspire Big Smoke Burger’s new menu items.
It’s a fun and cheeky name, but more importantly, it’s the Canadian burger chain’s way of celebrating their roots. In a divisive political climate, Big Smoke Burger wanted to add a dash of local pride and Canadian identity to the delicious indulgence of southern cooking.
Nashville, Tennessee may be filled with bright lights and honky tonks, but north of the border, Nashville Ontario represents our nation’s more understated pride. No matter the size of our village or city, we look after our neighbours, find joy in exploring our vast landscape together, and bring down political barriers through the making and sharing of food.
Enter, the Nashville Ontario Hot Chicken Sandwich and Hot Chicken Poutine, Big Smoke Burger’s distinctly Canadian twist on the popular southern hot chicken trend. These two are the stars of Big Smoke’s new summer menu, offering mouth-watering comfort food with a patriotic approach.
The Nashville Ontario Hot Chicken Sandwich features chicken tenders tossed in Big Smoke’s own Nashville sauce, layered with juicy pickles and crispy lettuce, and drizzled with ranch dressing. The Nashville Ontario Hot Chicken Poutine is a finger-licking dish of chicken tenders and the “Nashville” sauce, with fries, cheese curds and gravy piled on top.
Adding to this ultra-Canadian menu are Big Smoke Burger’s new Oh, Brisket Burger and Oh, Brisket Poutine, with names playfully inspired by “O Canada”. The Oh, Brisket Burger is loaded up with smoked cheddar and BBQ sauce and topped with an onion ring, while the Oh, Brisket Poutine combines delicious poutine with brisket, BBQ sauce, and onion rings. Best of all, the brisket and cheddar are Canadian, and the cheese curds are from —obviously— Quebec.

As Canadians might recognize from Big Smoke Burger’s name, the business has always sought to highlight their Toronto pride and Canadian background. For years they have drawn on Canadian ingredients and food traditions, but this moment calls for a louder celebration of our country and its unique history.
Much like a Canadian summer, this menu is a limited-time offering. Visit www.bigsmokeburger.com to take a look at these delicious dishes and find out where you can get your hands on them.
