Arrowhead is renowned across Ontario for its diverse winter activities, making it the ultimate destination for camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and so much more—all within the same enchanting place.

Arrowhead has quickly become one of the region’s most popular winter attractions so it’s important you plan your visit carefully. Here are some of the top activities worth checking out.

Camping:

Within the serene embrace of Arrowhead Provincial Park, 13 charming camp cabins offer a rustic winter retreat. These one-room cabins, adorned with warm wooden interiors, comfortably accommodate up to five guests with a queen bed and a double/single bunk bed.

The cabins are equipped with a kitchenette featuring a microwave and mini-fridge, complemented by a cozy dining area. Convenience is elevated with provided mattresses, a gas barbecue, picnic table, and a comforting propane/electric fireplace. Nearby comfort stations and water taps enhance the camping experience. Visitors are encouraged to bring essentials such as bedding, cookware, and personal items. A two-night minimum stay is required, extending to three nights on long weekends.

For those preferring a more traditional experience, tent or trailer camping is also available. All seven winter campsites are electrically serviced and within a short walk from the winterized comfort station, complete with showers, flush toilet facilities, a dishwashing station, and a winterized trailer water filling station.

Venture along the 8 km of marked snowshoe trails or explore off-trail through the mature hardwood forest, revealing mesmerizing winter wonderland views.

Skijoring:

For those with adventurous dogs, skijoring—a thrilling activity where your dog leads the way—is an excellent way to spend a winter afternoon.

Ice Skating:

Arrowhead's iconic 1.3 km skating trail through the forest is a must-try experience. Alternatively, a skating rink offers a shorter ice-skating adventure. Weekdays are recommended for a quieter visit, and don't miss the enchanting "Fire and Ice Nights" when the trail is illuminated for nighttime skating.

Hiking:

Discover five year-round hiking trails, each offering a unique experience. From the moderate two-hour Beaver Meadow Trail to the panoramic views of Big Bend Lookout and the semi-rugged terrain of Homesteader’s Trail, there's a trail for every preference.
