Every year, Ontarians get the chance to call out the roads that drive them up the wall—or at least rattle their suspension. CAA has just released its 2025 list of the province’s Worst Roads, and once again, the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area has dominated the top 10.
Voted on by drivers, cyclists, transit riders and pedestrians across the province, the annual campaign shines a spotlight on roads that are riddled with potholes, plagued by gridlock, or simply falling apart. The idea isn’t just to vent frustrations—it’s to influence real change.
From missing signage and poor drainage to deteriorating asphalt, the conditions on these roads affect more than just commutes. They impact safety, increase repair costs for drivers, and contribute to delivery delays and traffic congestion. Since the campaign began in 2003, public feedback has helped push governments to take action, with many of the roads on past lists receiving overdue repairs and resurfacing.
This year, Hamilton claimed both the #1 and #2 spots, with Aberdeen Avenue and Barton Street East topping the list. Toronto wasn’t far behind, with three notoriously bad roads making the cut.
Since 2003, CAA's annual Worst Roads campaign has influenced change. Repaving and repair work has been done on many of the roads on Ontario's Worst Roads list, with more to come.
