From the Niagara Peninsula wine region in Ontario, Marynissen 2021 is an excellent value Cabernet Franc at $19. Fresh and juicy with bright raspberry, cranberry, dark plum, loamy earth, white pepper and toasty oak spice flavours vibrant and concentrated on the palate, tannins are fine-grained and very approachable now. John and Adrianna Marynissen purchased the property in 1953 and in 1976, John planted Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Merlot and Gamay vines, making the winery one of the first in Ontario to plant vinifera.
Cabernet Franc food pairings: lamb tagine, slow-roasted blade or beef in mirepoix, tourtiere.
